Using the Alpha® GV Backer Pad on your Makita GV5000 Sander is easy. First, make sure your sander is turned off and unplugged. Then, attach the backer pad to the sander according to the tool's unique spindle and attachment configuration. You can then attach your preferred hook - and - loop backed products like polishing pads, sandpaper, or felt wheels. When using it on different materials such as stone, tile, metal, wood, or glass, start with a lower speed and gradually increase as needed. For bullnosed edges, use a light touch and follow the curve carefully. For flat surfaces, move the sander in a smooth, even motion. As for maintenance, after each use, clean the backer pad with a soft brush to remove any debris. Store it in a dry place to prevent rust or damage. Also, regularly check the hook - and - loop surface for wear and tear. If it starts to lose its grip, it might be time to replace the backer pad.
