Using the Metacaulk Firestop Joint Strip is easy. First, make sure the concrete or masonry control joints are clean and dry. Then, simply place the strip into the joint up to 2 inches wide. If you're using it with plastic pipe penetrations, just position it around the pipes. You can pair it with any UL - listed sealant for better results. When it comes to covering it, you can use any standard architectural caulk in the color you like. As for maintenance, there's not much you need to do. Just check the strip periodically to make sure it's still in place and there are no signs of damage. If you notice any issues, replace the strip as soon as possible. Also, remember to store the strips in a dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures to keep them in good condition.
